Our research indicates that for adolescent girls to succeed in their life and career goals, they must be provided with guidance, training, and resources early in life. We agree!
We want to reach girls when it matters most. By reaching them when they are still young, we not only can help them stay healthy and safe in the short-term, but we can reduce the number of women in crisis in the future. Putting them on a path early, will help them realize their dreams.
Although all girls face barriers because of their gender, we prioritize working with girls who have additional obstacles including poverty, unstable home lives, living in foster care, or teen motherhood. The Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls Program gives girls the tools they need to achieve their education and career goals, empowering them to break cycles of poverty, violence, and abuse.
SIVW is doing our part to empower the next generation of women and closing the gap on gender-based inequalities.
SIVW’s Dream It Be It: Career Support for Girls Program is an annual full-day conference that provides participants with the information and resources they want and need to be successful. Designed specifically for girls in secondary school, Dream It, Be It provides girls with access to professional role models, career education, and the resources to live their dreams. Program participants attend workshops where they learn about career opportunities, setting and achieving goals, overcoming obstacles to success, and moving forward after setbacks. At the end of the day, attendees are FIRED UP about taking responsibility for their future, BELIEVING that they can, and EQUIPPED with the tools to do it.

Interested in mentoring young women?
At the Dream It, Be It Conference, participants experience the Walk of Life mentor showcase, set up like a tradeshow with 50 or so women in all walks of life, there to talk to participants about what they do, what they love about it, what the challenges are, and most importantly to tell their own story.
Feedback from participants is that they are amazed to be exposed to careers they hadn't thought of, to realize there is a community of supportive women, and to talk to successful women who have overcome obstacles in their lives.
Feedback from Career Mentors is always that they are themselves inspired and learn so much from the girls and from meeting other Career Mentors.
The Career Mentor’s job is to reach out to the young women as they come along, and chat and just be a mentor for that time. It’s about exposing young women to possibilities.
