Improving the lives of women and girls
Who we are
Soroptimist International of Victoria Westshore
Chartered in May 2010, Soroptimist International of Victoria Westshore (SIVW) is a lively group of women of various ages, professions, and backgrounds and this diversity is the creative ‘juice’ for the interesting and exciting community-based and global projects we undertake.
What We Do
We are a global volunteer movement working together to transform the lives of women and girls through service programs, fundraising, and advocacy that lead to social and economic empowerment.
Soroptimists empower women and girls through education because educated women and girls are: less vulnerable to sex traffickers; more likely to leave a domestic violence situation and not return; able to access healthcare; less likely to live in poverty, and able to raise stronger, healthier families
Anney’s Closet is a “free store” for women who are transitioning to a new living situation. Shoppers are often fleeing violence, domestic abuse, other unsafe living situations, or aging out of foster care.
Our annual conference, Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls, helps girls grow up to be strong, successful, happy adults. Dream It, Be It is for girls in secondary school who may face obstacles to their future success.
We are proud to lead and participate in many other local and global initiatives that support and empower women.
