Our First Women’s Opportunity Award Winner

On May 18, 2011, Soroptimist International of Victoria Westshore celebrated the three young women who received awards during our first year as a Soroptimist Club. We held it at the President’s home, with members bringing potluck dishes so we could provide a lovely dinner for our award recipients, their families and important friends.

Award Recipients

Women’s Opportunity Award: Anna Graham

The Soroptimist Women’s Opportunity Awards assists women who provide the primary source of financial support for their families by giving them the resources they need to improve their educations, skills and employment prospects. This award is now called the Live Your Dream Award.

Violet Richardson Award: Bailey McLean

The Soroptimist Violet Richardson Award is a recognition program for young women ages 14-17 engaged in volunteer action within their communities or schools. The award is given to young women whose activities make the community and world a better place. This award has been replaced with the Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls Program.

Westshore Elementary Leadership Award: Jadyn Moses

This award was granted to young Elementary School aged girls who displayed leadership qualities in their schools. They were involved in their school’s initiatives and were hard workers.

These are three stellar girls/young women, and we’re proud to have been able to select the very best of the best in our first year.
