Empowering Tomorrow's Leaders: Dream It, Be It Inspires Students to Pursue Their Career Dreams

On Tuesday, March 5, 2024, Soroptimist International hosted the 'Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Students’ event, an initiative designed to bridge the gap between young people and their career aspirations. This event wasn't just about lectures; it was about connecting students with real-life role models, educational tools, and resources to help them flourish.

With 92 attendees from schools across Southern Vancouver Island and 35 Career Mentors representing various employment sectors, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement. The five workshops participants had the choice of attending were lively and interactive, covering everything from creating high-quality resumes to honing critical thinking skills. The aim was to equip these young people with the practical know-how needed to navigate their professional journeys confidently.

The keynote speaker, Antonia Medeira, an executive life coach, gave an inspirational speech, speaking passionately about the importance of self-esteem and resilience. Her words hit home for many in the audience, urging the participants to nurture their inner strength as they pursued their dreams. The overarching mission of the event was crystal clear: to get these students excited about their future career ambitions, stay true to their values, and confront all challenges head-on.

By providing access to relatable role models and invaluable resources, 'Dream It, Be It' sought to cultivate a supportive community where students could not just survive, but thrive. Soroptimist International of Victoria Westshore's unwavering dedication to empowering young people through initiatives like this is shaping the leaders of tomorrow, one dream at a time.
